Starting from the summer solstice, nights in the northern hemisphere grow longer. A few evenings before the winter solstice, the longest night of the year, we will gather to hear stories from our scriptures about ‘long nights of the soul’ brought on by illness, grief, addiction, and uncertainty, among others. During this warm and loving service, we acknowledge the complexity of this time of year, light candles, pray, and are reminded of God's promises.
